Zedler Mill Wedding, Luling, Texas | John + Lacie

It was the type of day that smelled like country. The sun was warm, but it remained cool in the shadows. Garlands of white and green were being draped onto the ceremony backdrop, the candles between the succulent centerpieces were being lit, and in the big house across the street Lacie was preparing for one of the biggest days of her life.

John wore his jeans, boots and vest. He owns that southern charm and has a smile that makes you feel rewarded. He wanted to see his two girls before the ceremony where he'd hand them a gift and a heartfelt hug. It was a day of celebration, love, and family. Lacie lost her father to cancer months before the wedding, and the day reopened wounds that had just barely begun to heal. Lacie, John, their family and friends took several moments to remember him. Click HERE to see all the ways she honored him at their wedding. I observed Lacie put one foot infront of the other and take slow, easy, breaths to steady her rapid heart.

As John waited at the end of the aisle, and Lacie walked down the stairs with her mom there seemed to be a moment when everyone held their breath and swallowed the knot in their throats. Lacie took a few moments to remember her daddy and walked to the only man dad trusted to take care of his little girl. We all witnessed the connection, love and passion they share as John + Lacie held hand in hand and recited their vows. John, the "beard, backyard & beers" kinda guy was most revealing. His heart was overflowing with joy and happiness. At that moment, when she saw him look into her crystal blue eyes she knew he loved her even deeper than she believed.

John + Lacie entered the room and walk into their first dance to Randy Travis' Forever and Ever, Amen. The smell of BBQ soon filled the air, and I practically bolted the minute I heard dinner was being served. No women and children first, my stomach was a sinking ship and that plate of brisket was my lifeboat. The evening included a mother-daughter dance to Momma He's Crazy which made everyone erupt into laughter as Lacie sang the lyrics to her mother. After toasts, Lacie danced a song with her husband in memory of her father Randy. There was not a dry eye in the house. The rest was nothing but boot scootin' boogie.

John + Lacie, there aren't enough beautiful words to describe how grateful I am that you welcomed me into your group of friends. Your infectious laughter and contagious joyfulness is envied. It was an honor to photograph your wedding. You are two magnificent souls and I wish you only the very best.

John + Lacie shared letters before the ceremony. The man also wrote a letter on behalf of their dog Aspen!!! How darling is that? "Lacie, where'd you find this man?" said all dog-lovers everywhere.
