Harper Hill Ranch Engagement Session | Seguin, Texas | Stephanie + Bianca

Right outside of San Marcos and New Braunfels is this hidden gem of a wedding venue Harper Hill Ranch, just look at those beautiful windows! I wasn't sure I was headed the right way until I saw the Barn on the top of the hill. Stephanie + Bianca chose this location for their wedding so there was no better fit to have the engagement session done here as well.
Bianca + Stephanie are one of my handful of my COVID couples. This means they had to postpone their spring 2020 wedding because we were all on lockdown. It broke my heart to see so many couples worry about what was going to happen because no one had answers. Some celebrated by opening gifts and others by enjoying some quality time on what would have been the day they announced their vows.
How They Met:
They both entered the elevator and pressed the number 7 after which they stood in silence in their respective bubbles of the small space as each floor passed by. When the doors finally opened, Bianca went left and Stephanie went right. Minutes later, Bianca found herself across the interview table from Stephanie hustling to get the job at an advertising firm in Corpus Christi -- My hometown!
I imagine that in a very lively conversational tone Bianca spoke about marketing campaigns, studying abroad in Europe and of course, Texas A&M. All while Stephanie sat in silence, shielded by her laptop. When the CEO asked Stephanie if she had any remaining questions for Bianca, she uttered the first words she would ever say to Bianca.
"Can you make lists?"
Needless to say, Bianca got the job and to Stephanie's delight, Bianca was good at making lists. Their close work relationship led to breakfast taco runs and lunches at Czech-Mex Bakery, especially when they were working late at the office.
Some of their most fond memories are when they shared their first kiss at the St. Patrick Day Block Festival in Corpus Christi and when they had their official first date which included dinner at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen and just sitting in the car listening to the waves on Ocean Drive. It was here that after waking up from a nap Stephanie looked over at Bianca and asked her, "Will you be my girlfriend?"
A year later Bianca accepted a job in San Antonio, so they packed up their 4 pups and moved.
How She Asked:
A traveling Lantern Festival was making its way near San Antonio in the coming months, and when Stephanie got wind of the event, she began making plans for a romantic, star-filled proposal. While Bianca knew about the event, she had no idea what Stephanie had planned. She even convinced Bianca that they should try to get photos taken by the event staff that would be walking around. (I was the "staff" photographer).
I arrived early and even met up with Stephanie to take hold of the ring until the right moment. I walked around and took photos of random groups to give the impression that I was part of the event and not a total stalker.
As the sun began the set and the lanterns started to fill the sky, they prepared their matches and started setting up.
After failed attempts at lighting the first and second lantern, it finally happened. They both knelt down, posing for photos with their lantern now lit and as Bianca stood up to prepare for the lantern to float away, she glanced down at Stephanie still kneeling. Trembling, Stephanie grabbed the ring box that I sneakily placed at her feet and asked Bianca a life-changing question. With so much commotion, for a moment I was confused when Bianca responded,
"Are you Serious?!"
When she realized Stephanie wasn't joking, she quickly said, "Yes!" and asked if she wanted to get the "event photographer" to get a photo of this moment. Much to Bianca's surprise, I was there specifically for them.
Bianca + Stephanie sure have been through a lot over the years and with having to postpone their March wedding for August, it's one I most anticipate. I can't wait to party it up with you two, friends!
